Experience Says Stay at Baltimore Hotels

There are absolutely no cheap hotels left in Washington, D.C. so those searching there for Obama inauguration rooms are out of luck. Usually you can find fairly cheap rooms in D.C., national capitol. However, we all know what is happening on January 20 and unless you can book a room for over $ 600 a night, Washington D.C. is not available for you around that time. And, you will not find inauguration discounts on accommodation.

Baltimore is your best bet. It is not far to the capitol by train. However, a lot of people have picked up on this idea and they are mostly full in Baltimore, too. You can still get a room for $ 100 a night at the Best Western Hotel Baltimore but you better hurry. Baltimore is a good option because while there will be heavy security and large crowds in D.C., Baltimore will be removed from all that confusion and it is a great little city to tour around the harbor area anytime. You will find great views of the Inner Harbor from Federal Hill Park. This is a city rich in history and the Battle of Baltimore here inspired the lyrics of the U.S.A. national anthem.

Besides Baltimore, there are rooms available still in Hagerstown, Maryland but that is quite a ways further out. An even better bet if you can get them while they last are the $ 80 rooms still available at the Quality Inn Mount Vernon Alexandria, which is even closer to the capitol than Baltimore. They are a steal and are still available if you can get them.

Do not despair if you cannot get a place to say in D.C. There will be rooms available in the surrounding areas. For seasoned travelers, experience says stay at Baltimore hotels or hotels in cities close by the capitol in places like Alexandria. If find nothing in one city or town, search in another. Your persistence will be rewarded.
